SCSS also provides assessments and treatment in Spanish. Our bilingual therapist will evaluate your child in their primary language/languages and determine if their difficulties are resulting from a language/articulation delay or from being a dual language learner. By evaluating your child in their primary language with testing measurements based off that language, the assessment will encompass all the language your child knows rather than only assessing half of their abilities and results will be determined based off appropriate developmental norms rather than the developmental norms of children learning only one language.
Our Speech-language Pathologists have completed specialized training in pediatric feeding and swallowing disorders and have experience with infants, toddlers, and children with a variety of feeding difficulties and medical complexities from tracheostomy and G-tubes to oralfacial and behavioral feeding disorders.
We understand the frustration that children and their parents face when it comes to remediating resonance, voice, and fluency disorders therefore we provide objective and instrumental assessments and treatment to ensure exact baselines for monitoring progress and making treatment fun and engaging for children.
The clinicians at SCSS are knowledgeable about OMDs and how abnormal movement/resting posture of the tongue, lips, cheeks, and jaw effect the development of speech and feeding. All evaluations include a comprehensive orofacial myofunctional assessment including assessing for tethered oral tissues (tongue, lip, and buccal ties.)
From 0-21 years, we provide comprehensive, individualized speech-language evaluations and treatment for children with a variety of impairments including but not limited to delayed articulation, motor speech disorders, apraxia, auditory processing disorder, autism, cognitive delays, phonemic and phonological awareness, and developmental language delays.
